FAQs
-
Virtual therapy is a form of mental health treatment that is provided through a secure, online platform and works by allowing individuals to receive mental health support from the comfort of their own homes, without the need for in-person visits to a clinic or office. The therapy sessions are similar to traditional in-person therapy in that clients work with a licensed mental health professional to address their mental health concerns and develop strategies for coping and improvement.
Virtual therapy can be beneficial for those who have difficulty accessing in-person therapy due to geographical barriers, mobility limitations, or scheduling conflicts. Additionally, virtual therapy can provide a level of convenience and flexibility that may be appealing to those who prefer not to attend therapy in person.
-
Virtual therapy, like traditional in-person therapy, is confidential and is governed by the same privacy laws and ethical guidelines. To ensure confidentiality and security, we use a secure and encrypted platform for online communication. This helps protect against hacking and unauthorized access to session information.
Clients should also take steps to protect their privacy by using a secure, private location for virtual therapy sessions and taking precautions to minimize the risk of others overhearing the session.
-
For virtual therapy sessions delivered via video conferencing, you will need a device with a camera, microphone, and internet connection. This could be a computer, tablet, or smartphone. It's recommended to use a device with a good quality camera and microphone to ensure clear and effective communication with your therapist during the session. A strong and stable internet connection is also important to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted virtual therapy experience.
For virtual therapy sessions delivered over the phone, you will only need a phone with a reliable connection.
-
The number of virtual therapy sessions needed will vary depending on the individual and their specific mental health needs and goals. There is no set number of sessions that applies to everyone.
Some people may only need a few virtual therapy sessions to address a specific issue, while others may require ongoing therapy to manage a chronic mental health condition. The frequency and duration of virtual therapy sessions are typically determined on a case-by-case basis, in collaboration with the therapist.
Factors that can influence the number of virtual therapy sessions needed include the severity of symptoms, the individual's overall health and well-being, their progress and response to therapy, and their personal goals for therapy.
